I saw this movie years ago on an independent film channel, and have always wanted to add it to my collection. Kidnap the Marx Brothers, get them really high, then crank everything up three or four turns beyond that and turn them loose on Danube Gypsy culture.
It's raucously funny yet seems to show a genuine affection for the Rom culture it portrays. I personally see in this film a certain similarity with the classic comedies of the USSR. For me, it's a joy to watch. A couple of surprises that might be met with disapproval.
