stingray stinger

Stingray stings are one of the most common dive and beach-related injuries. Most stingray injuries typically occur when a person accidentally steps on a ray as it lies on the shallow, sandy bottom of a beach area. Pain from a stingray sting can last anywhere from a few hours to a couple days. Once disturbed, their venomous stinger (spine) near the base of their tails lashes out and can cause punctures or lacerations (cuts).

The person feels immediate, sharp, excruciating pain that peaks in 1-2 hours. Emotional trauma is best described as a psychological response to a deeply distressing or life-threatening experience. Stingrays sting usually when a swimmer or diver unintentionally steps on one. Once the injured person is stable, X-rays may be taken if the doctor thinks foreign matter or parts of the stingray's sheath and spine remain in the wound. Wound care: The doctor cleans the wound, removes foreign matter, and looks for injuries to tendons, nerves, blood vessels, and other body structures.

If important structures, such as nerves, tendons, or arteries, are damaged, then a surgeon (such as a hand specialist) needs to be consulted to assist in the management of the wound. You may attempt to remove the stinger with tweezers to decrease toxin exposure if doing so will not cause further injury. The toxins should not affect the birth unless they go untreated for several hours. {"smallUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/images\/thumb\/7\/73\/Treat-a-Stingray-Sting-Step-1-Version-2.jpg\/v4-460px-Treat-a-Stingray-Sting-Step-1-Version-2.jpg","bigUrl":"\/images\/thumb\/7\/73\/Treat-a-Stingray-Sting-Step-1-Version-2.jpg\/aid13219-v4-728px-Treat-a-Stingray-Sting-Step-1-Version-2.jpg","smallWidth":460,"smallHeight":345,"bigWidth":"728","bigHeight":"546","licensing":"

Dragging your feet will help to alert Stingray and minimize the chance of getting stung. The ray’s tail can reach all the way to the front of its head for protection. home The Stinger is equipped with an innovative Limited Slip Differential (LSD) designed to evenly distribute power through the rear wheels. It can be difficult to remove from a wound because of the back-facing barbs. A doctor should be consulted about treatment with available medications. If a boat ride is needed to shore, call ahead to arrange an ambulance or car for transportation to a medical facility.
