There are some really interesting ideas in this book and makes me wonder if there are other companies and organizations that pursue "idea meritocracy" out there in the world. Some good insights but too repetitive at times. Tragically, sarcastically, entertainingly accurate. The first book tells the story of Dalioâs career and explains his overarching approach to life using principles that affect everything he doesâmost importantly, how he pursues meaningful work and meaningful relationships. At that point they have reached their "final placement." The practical guide to evaluating nonprofit financial health, policies, and risk management. This Book is the Road Map to make this Seemingly Impossible Task Achievable. It was so simple but it would be such a breakthrough if the theory worked as well in practice as it did on paper.

Overall, Peter seemed cynical about work and people's competence, and I suppose that I'm either too idealistic or too influenced by the Reformed doctrine of vocation (or both) to be as cynical as Peter is. Furthermore, some people are fired for their incompetence. It's a teeny-tiny book written by 3 men. Impressive. Want to stop procrastinating? I picked it up because it seemed to be so popular, and I sometimes get pulled into that trap for some reason. Because I don’t think most people are reading it like that, I am worried that this book will do more harm than good.

As you read this book, you feel as if you are talking with Ray in his office or in a restaurant. We then capture these pictures in Baseball Cards, which are a simple way of presenting a person’s strengths and weaknesses and the evidence behind them (in much the same way as a baseball card does for a professional baseball player).

Plus, it's a funny thing in America that we hold up people who have made a lot of money through the finance world as models for us to look up to, a la Warren Buffett. This is a wonderful induction into his attitudes towards people and business, and would be a perfect read for someone wanting to start a business. If you look around on how business's grow and eventually fail, and how people get promoted and promoted until they achieve a level where they reach a level of incompetence, this book explains it all.
It should indeed be about finding the truth, and being radically transparent and honest in this worthwhile quest. Welcome back.
