Alright, here is a sour topic. Again, it's easier to understand, but the power of Max/G-Max moves still adds a definitive boost in strength against unmaxxed pokemon. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze got a lot of flack for the exact same thing. ", "Ninetales!!! I equate the trial captains and kahunas to gym leaders in that they play similar roles, and they were fairly present outside of their trials if you looked for them (visiting their homes, finding them at work, etc). Battles haven't changed, just the names and faces of characters involved. The only reason they feel more flushed out is because of Trainer Cards, but even then Leaf Green/Fire Red's Fame Checker did much more in my opinion since it seemed gym leaders and elite four were more renowned outside of their towns and cities. Maybe I misunderstood the issue there. I will be the first person on the line to say that a price hike is stupid. Edit: This isn't a defense for them. I loved Berseria, but it's biggest weakness was that it put very little effort into backgrounds. Created Feb 26, 2019. Without story, the game is 6/10.
But already. As someone who skipped a few gens, picked up X/Y and Su/Mo, it was all so jarring. A subreddit to discuss anything about Pokemon Sword & Shield! For me, a 15/30 is a "meh" game.
The animations being reused I understand. Faced with controversy ever since the announcement of "Dexit" during 2019's Nintendo Treehouse Presentation, the games seek to make up for this fault in their stars through supposedly upgraded animations, game balance, and other quality of life features. Characters, while visually appealing for the most part, have personalities that fall into simple tropes ranging from the high-on-life Hop, to the full-of-himself Leon who can't stop reminding us about how undefeatable he is. My honest review of Pokemon Sword and Shield. One wonders how the writers managed to miss the opportunity to simply change their names to Brandr and Aegis for the sake of creativity, but their designs and names truly showcase the level of effort put into the game's plot. While Pokemon Sword and Shield may initially draw in older fans with a return to a basic formula of business-oriented bad guys instead of the world-ending tier masterminds of late, the game's plot falls flat pretty quickly. While more than 60% of Pokemon have been removed, several key issue Pokemon have remained within the roster. This is my personal favorite story of the game. In this case, games like Digimon Cyber Sleuth, Dragon Quest XI, and Shin Megami Tensei's Devil Survivor would be considered as top examples that range from 8 to 10/10; while Legend of Pegasus, Battle Revolution (a personal favorite for presentation, but seriously lacking in gameplay), and some other buried JRPGs take up 1 to 3 out of 10.
As I stated in a Rewind Review on Super Metroid, what was once fine over 20 years ago is simply not the case anymore. Super Effective Moves feel as overpowered as ever as well. Had they maybe reorganized the structure to reduce Super Effective moves to 1.75 or 1.5 times regular damage, perhaps more dynamic gameplay strategies could be employed. Part of the reason I bring this up is because of something I noticed about mints: they change a pomemon’s stats as if it changes its nature without actually changing the nature of the pokemon. But unless your power leveling the EXP scale is balanced, you and everybody else will be level 50 by the 8th gym. There's also the secondary personality trait that doesn't effect stats in any way. Pokémon Trainers. To be honest this is a problem that extends beyond pokemon. Super Smash Bros. Gym Leaders are also much less involved than they have ever been outside of the original Game Boy and Game Boy Color entries. The game is by no means hard, harder than S&M, but easier than every other gen.
Post game was lacking, and once you've maxed out a lvl 100 team there's nothing to do but ranked. Allowing you to catch higher and higher level pokemon in the game. I agree with the sentiment that it felt like there was a ton of stuff not being told, and it felt like things went from 0-1,000 really quick. EDIT: I should probably mention my scoring system places 0s as unplayable messes, and 10s as a "the next Pokemania" or must play game of the year. Its a shame because i really liked the design of the new pokemon in this gen and the OST is very good too. I would've been fine if things flowed differently, if we got more of an explanation on The Darkest Day and Eternatus and everything. that needed to be ported. It only lasts 3 turns before changing them back automatically. But models all look exactly perfect and look great on a big screen. It's 2019. One of the major complaints coming in was the models as well as the animations being reused. The question remains: Does Pokemon have what it takes to slice through its competition, or are they simply hiding behind the barriers of their 23 year long legacy? Alright, here is a sour topic. Matches online tend to become a game of "who will pop the dynamax first?" You get an upvote just for accurately stating the best switch game as Xenoblade chronicles 2 :). In my mind everytime it used that move I just imagine Blue shooting the opposing pokemon. You get 3 options during camp that aren't cooking, a ball to play fetch with, a cattail toy with a feature at the end, and the ability to "talk" with your pokemon. At first I thought that it was cute, because otherwise it would feel line you were brainwashing your pokemon, and I might become attached to the idea of my pokemon’s personality. Thanks for your honest thoughts! Because of how the game was advertised, you mostly saw the wild area and towns. It really is endearing to watch your pokemon walk back and forth and do stuff during this portion. The new features are interesting in some cases and meh in others.
