I've somehow read these Angelou memoirs out of order (I don't think I realized for a long time that she even had more than the first one, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings.) I was not disappointed once again, Taking this journey with Maya was inspiring as with all her writings I have read so far, I have wanted to buy something of hers for many years, I am not disappointed to have waited until this time, I have a maturer view on life and feel my appreciation for her writings come with greater passion.

This is the darkest in Maya Angelou's anthology and one I hadn't read before so I was shocked when she came to the brink of prostitution and actually jumped. There's a purity about this book.
