The Church of Saint Nicholas (Czech: Kostel svatého Mikuláše) is a Baroque church in the Lesser Town of Prague. Though less popular then the Church of St. Nicholas from the Lesser Town, The Church of St. Nicholas in the Old Town Square deserves its place among Prague’s most appreciated and visited places. It replaced a parish church mentioned in records dating back to 1273. The 20th century brought new decorations with Neo-Baroque style paintings, statues, and a life size sculpture of St. Nicholas put in the niche of the church. Later in the 17th century the church was in the Benedictine possession and shortly after church was burned down in a fire. The plans were drawn up by the famous prague baroque architect Kilián Ignác Dienzenhofer.
