Holly Hunter and the main character performed well but the rest........ :-( I would not recommend this movie to anyone and do not understand the praise it received. Would rather watch 5 episodes of Friends. Another boring and predictable love story, this time with a Pakistani person in it. Shout out to the best on-screen joke of 2017: Emily's father: What's your stance on 9/11? Few romantic comedies have aged as poorly as Never Been Kissed.

Michael Sholwater did a superb job directing and the writing collaboration between Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani gave the audience a wonderfully intimate sense of how the warmth, power, and growth of a couple relationship can expand and strengthen the bonds of family.
All the actors in The Big Sick are accomplished and fit their roles well. I think that could be why a lot of the American audience liked the movie because they wouldn't get turned off by those types of stereotypes. I am a huge fan of both Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan, and I did enjoy the movie a little bit but good lord it may be the most overrated film of 2017. It was the most boring movie I've seen and my partner fell asleep quit early on. With Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, Ray Romano. Though some rom-coms couples can seem to fall for each other way too quickly, in the case of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, the whirlwind romance works quite well. We kept waiting for it to take off but right to the last minute there was simply nothing.
The feel of this film is right in line with "Little Miss Sunshine" and "The Way Way Back," leaving the audience with a feel good feeling at the films conclusion.
The acting - everybody - stinks (how on earth did Ray Romano and Holly Hunter get roped into this turkey? Non-Spoiler: This movie started out alright, kind of funny and gives you the curiosity to see where its gonna go.
After reading reviews on this site my husband and I decided to see it instead of one of the heavier more depressing movies currently playing at the local cineplex. This makes things between Kumail & Emily, complicated.
